Feliciano Lopez will play in mallorca his last tournament in spain

Feliciano Lopez will say goodbye this year to the tennis courts and will definitely hang up his racket. Feli, a Spanish tennis legend, announced a few months ago that in 2023 he would put an end to a long and successful career as a professional tennis player. The Mallorca Championships has announced that, due to his impeccable career and his incredible contribution to Spanish tennis, Feliciano López will receive an invitation to play in the tournament to be held from June 25 to July 1, 2023 at the Mallorca Country Club. Feliciano is very happy for the invitation received and acknowledge that "in Mallorca I will play my last professional tournament in Spain. Mallorca is a spectacular place and one of the most important tourist destinations in the world and a tournament of the level of the Mallorca Championships helps to continue in that line and I am happy to be able to say goodbye here". A farewell in style.

Throughout these years, the tennis player from Toledo has achieved numerous successes for Spanish tennis, including 7 ATP titles, 5 Davis Cups and Roland Garros champion in doubles. In addition, Feliciano Lopez holds the record of participation with 79 consecutive appearances in Grand Slams and having played at least 20 times in each major: more than enough merits to receive the invitation to the tournament.

The long-awaited announcement was made during the tournament's visit to the Berlin International Tourism Fair together with the rest of the island's governmental institutions. At the announcement press conference, Feliciano expressed his joy at being able to say goodbye to Mallorca playing on the courts where in 2021 he achieved his 500th victory on the circuit. The player, a lover of the island, has played both editions of the tournament and with this participation he will close his particular hat-trick on his favorite surface where he has won more than half of his ATP tournaments (two titles in Queens and as many in Eastbourne).

With the participation of Feliciano Lopez, the tournament ensures a top class farewell for the Spanish player and adds this legendary tennis player to the already confirmed line-up, along with the spectacular Australian talent, Nick Kyrgios. Glamour and show guaranteed for a tournament where tickets are on sale at www.mallorca-championships.com. Edwin Weindorfer CEO of e|motion group has expressed his joy: "we are proud to be able to say goodbye to Feliciano Lopez, with an invitation to both the singles and doubles draw and celebrate together his spectacular career and enjoy a great tournament in the run-up to Wimbledon".

Event held in conjunction with the institutions.

This event took place in Berlin and was attended by Catalina Cladera, president of the Consell de Mallorca, Iago Negueruela, Councillor of Economic Model, Tourism and Labour of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Andreu Serra, Councillor of Transition, Tourism and Sports of the Consell de Mallorca and Xavier Pascuet, General Director of Tourism of the Calvià Town Hall. All the institutions represented have been very proud of the work done by the tournament to internationalize and value the brand of the island and to attract new markets that add value to the work done from each of the various governmental institutions.

From the institutional point of view, Iago Negueruela thanked e|motion group for the work done on the island and stressed that "we are tourism leaders but we have to continue creating and positioning sports tourism". From his side, Andreu Serra has pointed out the importance of the Mallorca Championships and we feel it as "our tournament, the tournament of all and one of the biggest events in Mallorca. For the Consell we are very proud and we will give all our support". The general director of tourism of Calvià, Xavier Pasquet wanted to remember that this tournament helps to put Calvià as the epicenter of the world of tourism and wished that "hopefully the tournament lasts many more years".
