History

In June 2021, the thrilling inaugural edition of the ATP 250 Mallorca Championships took place with resounding success, leaving a lasting impression due to its unique context and significance. This prestigious competition put the beautiful island of Mallorca at the forefront of the international tennis stage, attracting the world's top players, including notable figures like Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Dominic Thiem, among other renowned athletes. For Mallorca, it was a source of pride to have these great tennis players recognize the tournament as an essential event not to be missed.

The second edition, held in June 2022, saw Stefanos Tsitsipas emerge as the singles champion, while the duo of Rafael Matos and David Vega Hernández claimed the doubles title. The tournament featured prominent names like Daniil Medvedev, who was ranked world No. 1 at that time, Nick Kyrgios, and Pablo Carreño Busta.

In 2023, the Mallorca Championships witnessed its exciting third edition, highlighted by Christopher Eubanks reaching his first ATP final and securing a victory. This tournament will be remembered for the heartfelt farewell of Feliciano López, leaving a special mark in the event's history. The doubles title was won by the pairing of Yuki Bhambri and Lloyd Harris.

In 2024, the ATP 250 Mallorca Championships welcomed Waterdrop as presenting sponsor. The fourth edition was an exciting tournament where Alejandro Tabilo was crowned champion in the singles category, and went on to play in the doubles final, where British Julian Cash and American Robert Gallowy took the win. In this edition we saw Dominic Thiem play for the last time in Mallorca.

In 2025 we want more and better, so between the 21st and 28th of June we will have the fifth edition of the Mallorca Championships presented by Waterdrop.

However, our tennis legacy on the island goes beyond that; in 2016, the Mallorca Open returned to the island, a WTA tournament that ran until 2019. The Mallorca Open crowned illustrious players in its four editions, including Caroline Garcia, Anastasija Sevastova, Tatjana Maria, and the Australian Open champion, Sofia Kenin. The event also featured other grand slam champions like María Sharapova, Garbiñe Muguruza, German powerhouse Angelique Kerber, and Martina Hingis.

All editions, both male and female, have taken place at the exclusive Mallorca Country Club (Santa Ponça - Calviá), providing an unmatched venue for an event of such caliber.
