World No. 5 returns for edition No. 5: Casper Ruud confirms participation at Mallorca Championships
The organizers of Mallorca Championships proudly announced today that Casper Ruud, the current World No. 5, will compete in the fifth edition of the tournament, set to take place from June 21 to 28 at the Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponça.
Ruud, a former World No. 2, has a deep connection to Mallorca, having trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy since 2018. He previously played at the Mallorca Country Club in 2021, and now, three years later, he returns to the island where he honed his game and grew into one of the world’s top players.
“I’m really happy to return to Mallorca for the Mallorca Championships,” Ruud said. “Having spent so much time here over the years, it truly feels like playing at home. I love the atmosphere of the tournament, and I’m looking forward to competing in front of the amazing crowd once again.”
Tournament Director Toni Nadal, who worked with Ruud at the Rafa Nadal Academy, expressed his excitement about welcoming him back: “Casper has always been a hardworking and dedicated player, and we are incredibly proud of his achievements. Having him back at the Mallorca Championships is fantastic for the tournament, and I am sure the fans will enjoy watching him compete.”
Ruud has had an impressive start to the 2025 season, most recently reaching the final of the Dallas Open. As he prepares for the grass-court season, the Mallorca Championships will be a key stop on his road to Wimbledon.
Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of the organizing e|motion group, said: "With Ruud’s confirmation, the Mallorca Championships continue to attract top-tier talent to the island, reinforcing its status as a premier grass-court event on the ATP Tour. Fans can look forward to an exciting week of world-class tennis, set against the stunning backdrop of the Mediterranean."
The presentation of the latest confirmed player took place at Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponça, in presence of Mallorcan authorities as Pedro Juan Planas, director of the Balearic Agency for Tourism Strategy, Marco Táboas (general director for tourism at Mallorca Island Council), Javier Tascon, Isabel Bonet and Elisa Montserrat of Calvià Townhall. The event was presented by Pilar Carbonell, director of e|motion Sports España, who expressed her gratitude for the support of both the institutions and the tournament’s sponsors.
