Christopher Eubanks achieves his American dream in Mallorca Championships

The American lifts his first ATP trophy beating Mannarino into the final (6-1, 6-4)

A Mallorca Championships of firsts. This sentence could sum up the outcome of the third edition of the ATP 250 held in Santa Ponça (Calvià) with the victories of Christopher Eubanks, in the singles draw, together with the duo formed by Yuki Bhambri and Lloyd Harris, in the doubles.

The American beat Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in just 62 minutes and two sets (6-1, 6-4). The Atlanta-born tennis player took advantage of his powerful serve, hitting up to eleven aces and surpassing 60 in the whole tournament, to dominate the match from start to finish.

This Mallorca Championships has been a test of survival for Eubanks who, in the semi-finals, lifted five match points against Lloyd Harris. The American also became the tennis player who has saved the most points this season on the circuit to end up winning the title ahead of Holger Rune in Munich (4), Yibing Wu in Dallas (4), Novak Djokovic in Adelaide (1), Hubert Hurkacz in Marseille (1) and Frances Tiafoe in Stuttgart (1).

Eubanks feels like home in Mallorca

"From now on Mallorca will be like my second home. I hope to be able to return to the island for many years to come," said a smiling Eubanks after the final. "I feel great. This week has been like a dream come true. My first title here in Mallorca is really incredible," confessed the American.

"All of this reminds me of all the hard work and persistence I had to do until today because it wasn't easy to be a Top-100 player without winning any titles yet," continued the Georgia Tech-trained player. "Having saved several match balls gave me confidence but I still didn't expect to win the title because Adrian Mannarino plays very well on grass," Eubanks concluded.
