World No.2 Daniil Medvedev receives the second wild card
The Mallorca Championships lineup takes a quality step forward including Daniil Medvedev as a second Main Draw wild card. First edition of the ATP event celebrated in Santa Ponça (Calvià) welcomes the World No.2 just three days before the beginning of a tournament that concludes the 26th June.
The Russian joins other Top-10 as Novak Djokovic (No.1) and Dominic Thiem (5) who has choosen the Mallorca Country Club grass to complete their preparation before Wimbledon start on 28th June. The surface identical conditions to season’s third Grand Slam, under the All England Lawn Tennis Club groundstaff supervision, are a big point.
Tennis will enjoy during Mallorca Championships with Medvedev who, at 25, is in his best moment. The player born in Moscow has jumped to second ATP position making his best results at Australian Open (runner-up) in February, winning the Nitto ATP Finals and Paris-Bercy Masters titles last November and reaching last week Roland Garros quarterfinals for first time in his career.
Having won ten ATP titles, Medvedev evolution in last three seasons has been improving. During 2018 he has won first three in Sydney (hard), Winston-Salem (hard) and Tokyo (indoor). In 2019 Russian increased the list to seven adding Sofia and St. Petersburg (indoor) and Cincinnati & Shanghai Masters 1000 (hard) playing also his first career Grand Slam final at US Open.
