Branson & Götze have fun at Mallorca Championships presented by waterdrop®

The Mallorca Championships presented by waterdrop® is also a social event that brings celebrities and well-known faces throughout the week of competition, with the Opening Night kicking off with three-time Wimbledon champion tennis player Boris Becker and former Spain national team coach and 2010 World Cup winner Vicente del Bosque.

On Monday, two celebrities of the stature of Richard Branson and Mario Götze made an appearance at the Mallorca Country Club. Both the British businessman, founder of Virgin Group, and the 2014 World Cup winning German footballer were welcomed by Edwin Weindorfer, CEO and founder of e|motion, as well as tournament director Toni Nadal.

Branson and Götze were treated to the day's star match between Gael Monfils and Dominic Thiem in the packed stands, which looked spectacular despite it still being the first round of the only ATP 250 grass-court event in southern Europe.

The Austrian's defeat at the hands of the Frenchman was followed by the tribute paid to the 2020 US Open champion as his professional career comes to an end at the end of the season.
