Matos and Vega challenge Behar and Escobar in doubles final

On Friday the doubles final of the Mallorca Championships was defined. A day before, Ariel Behar and Gonzalo Escobar sealed their ticket, while Rafael Matos and David Vega did the same.

In the first semifinal, the Uruguayan and the Ecuadorian defeated Australian Matthew Ebden and Austrian Philipp Oswald (6-4, 6-2). The Brazilian and the Spaniard defeated the top seeds and recent Roland Garros champions, Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands (6-4, 3-6, 10-7).

This Saturday Behar and Escobar will seek their fourth title in four finals played to date since Delray Beach and Marbella (2021) as well as Belgrade (2022). For Matos and Vega it will be their third final since they started playing together in Marbella this year. The balance is a title (Marrakech) and another final (Munich).

On their way to succeed defending champions Simona Bolelli and Maximo Gonzalez, Behar and Escobar defeated Martin/Nys (7-6[3], 4-6, 10-8] and second seeds Krawietz/Mies (7-6[3], 7-6[11]) before the semifinals. Matos and Vega previously overcame the obstacles of Griekspoor/van de Zandschulp (6-3, 7-6[4]) and Karatsev/Vliegen (3-6, 7-6[3], 10-5).
