Tennis talk with Toni Nadal, Boris Becker and Tommy Haas

The Mallorca Championships presented by waterdrop® hosted on Saturday the Tennis talk with Toni Nadal, Boris Becker and Tommy Haas. The event brought together authorised voices to analyse current tennis on the base of their experience and knowledge.

Around fifty racket sport lovers were delighted with the opinions and anecdotes that Nadal, Becker and Haas offered at the Mallorca Country Club's VIP Tent before the day's qualifying round started.

Toni Nadal, director of the Mallorca Championships presented by waterdrop®, said that "everything is ready" for the fourth edition of the only ATP250 tournament played on grass in Spain. "We have the players ready and the tournament is getting better every year. We hope that people will come and enjoy it", he predicted.

Boris Becker said that Mallorca is a "very familiar island and where I feel like one of them". Regarding the tournament held in Calvià, the German indicated that the grass "needs rain and not too much heat, but Edwin Weindorfer and his tournament team are making the courts look good in Mallorca" and added that this tournament "is the last chance for many tennis players to play before Wimbledon and the Mallorca Championships presented by waterdrop® allows them to do so with good weather and good conditions".

Tommy Haas, for his part, agreed with his countryman that the event "improves year after year and the atmosphere is very nice". On the surface conditions in Mallorca, the former number 2, who took part in the Opening Night exhibition on Friday, said that the bounces "are not very high and the court will settle", as well as celebrating having been able to win alongside Dustin Brown against Feliciano López and Jaume Munar on a night "where the important thing was that everyone had a good time".

On the evolution of tennis on grass, Becker said that before "it was played differently and now, players like Nadal and Djokovic have shown that the service is not everything and that you can also win playing from the baseline". The triple Wimbledon champion reminded that next year will be "40 years since I won my first Wimbledon and then, the complicated thing is to win a second time because you only have to keep improving and mentally you have to find the motivation and inspiration.

Nadal acknowledged that now the tracks now "are slower", but this does not prevent that "you can play without thinking and I prefer creativity. Rafa Nadal's uncle said that the best moments of his career were Wimbledon 2008, plus Roland Garros 2005 and 2010. "When in 2009 we lost in Paris against Robin Soderling, the first thing I told my nephew is that we had to prepare to win in 2010. He won three Grand Slams that year and I was very happy".

Haas closed by stating that "Nadal on clay is the best of all time. He has won 14 times at Roland Garros and for me there will never be anyone like him". On the rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the Germanic indicated that the Spanish "plays spectacular, has a lot of charisma and likes to see him on the track", while the Italian "is necessary to be there because it is good for the sport, but they can not be compared yet with Nadal, Federer or Djokovic until 15 years pass and we see how they evolve or if they get new rivals.
