Mallorca Championships qualy begins the action
Main Draw ceremony and Qualifying lead tournament’s first day
Next Saturday, June 18th, the Mallorca Championships main singles draw will be held, starting at 10:30 am, at the Mallorca Country Club.
Centre Court will host three matches, starting at 11:00 a.m., with Spanish presence. Carlos Taberner will open the day against Swiss Antoine Bellver, followed by Fernando Verdasco against German Jan-Lennard Struff and local player Marc Ktiri against American Denis Kudla.
The rest of the matches will be between the Finn Otto Virtanen and the Japanese Taro Daniel, the Georgian Nikolosz Basilashvili and the German Mats Rosenkranz, the Australian Jordan Thompson and the Swedish Dragos Nicolae Madaras, the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo and the Austrian Lucas Miedler, as well as Andrey Kuznetsov and the Frenchman Quentin Halys.
Great set-list
The ceremony will be attended by Miomir Kecmanovic. The Serbian, ranked No.30, will be participating for the second time in the only ATP250 tournament on grass that takes place in Spain.
The ATP250 tournament held in Calviá will thus know the crossings of the 28 players who will be taking part in the second edition and who will try to succeed Daniil Medvedev in the list of winners.
Precisely, this year's line-up includes the new world No.1. The 2021 US Open winner, moreover, arrives in form this year after reaching the final of the ATP250 s-Hertogenbosch and being this week in the semifinals of the ATP500 Halle.
The other Top-10 player on the list is Stefanos Tsitsipas (No.6). The Greek, 2021 Roland Garros finalist, will be looking at the Mallorca Championships to continue his growth on the grass tour and improve on his recent quarterfinals at ATP250 Stuttgart and round of 16 in Halle.
Among the main attractions of the draw are three Top-20 players like Canadian Denis Shapovalov (No.15), as well as Spaniards Pablo Carreño (No.19) and Roberto Bautista (No.20). Not forgetting the Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (No.29) and the Australian Nick Kyrgios, a specialist on this surface, reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon (2014).
