Matos and Vega smile at Mallorca Championships
The Brazilian and Spanish beat Behar and Escobar
Rafael Matos and David Vega added their names to the Mallorca Championships doubles list after beating Uruguay's Ariel Behar and Ecuador's Gonzalo Escobar (7-6[5], 6-7[6], 10-1) in an evenly matched final.
The match, which lasted two hours and 22 minutes, saw the Brazilian and Spanish duo succeed Italy's Simone Bolelli and Argentina's Maximo Gonzalez as winners of the first edition.
For Matos and Vega this is their second ATP title as a tandem after winning it previously this year in Marrakech and also reaching the final in Munich, both tournaments played on clay.
On their way to the final, the Roland Garros quarterfinalists defeated Griekspoor/van de Zandschulp (6-3, 7-6[4]), Karatsev/Vliegen (3-6, 7-6[3], 10-5) and top seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Rojer (6-4, 3-6, 10-7).
