Ofner reaches in Mallorca his first ATP final

The fourth edition of the Mallorca Championships presented by waterdrop® already knows its finalists. Alejandro Tabilo and Sebastian Ofner will face each other this Saturday, starting at 3pm, to lift the title at the Mallorca Country Club.

The Chilean needed almost two hours of play to come from behind against Frenchman Gaël Monfils (2/6, 6/2 and 7/6[3]), while the Austrian defeated Briton Paul Jubb, who came from the qualifying round and eliminated top seed Ben Shelton, in one hour and 22 minutes (6/4 and 7/5).

This is the third final of the year for Tabilo, after Auckland (hard court) and Santiago (clay). He also equals Jaime Fillol as the only tennis player from his country to have reached finals on concrete, clay and grass.

Ofner, who is playing in Calvià the first ATP final of his career, becomes the fourth Austrian in history to reach this round on grass-court after Dominic Thiem (Stuttgart, 2016), Jürgen Melzer (Newport, 2003) and Alex Antonitsch (Newport, 1992).

The 28 years-old player born in Bruck, will try to prevent Tabilo from achieving the double in the only ATP 250 played on grass in southern Europe.
